New P.O.S. album: “Never Better” or could be better?
By Lizelle Jackson | February 4, 2009

Never Better, P.O.S.’s third album dropped yesterday, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. Wasn’t sure what I was expecting, that is to say, with all the hype surrounding the release. Staying true to his punk rock roots, he presents an album that is loud and noisy, along with a delivery whose urgency is a little overwhelming at times. After the first listen, my favorite tracks would have to be “Savion Glover”, (which I believe was released awhile ago, but just never made it on to an album), and “Optimist (We Are Not For Them)”. Right now, it’s so so for me, who knows, maybe after a few listens it will grow on me. In the meantime, I’ll stick to his “older” stuff, namely “I Made It From Scratch” which was featured on the compilation album, False Hopes 13, from Doomtree.
UPDATE: In response to the comment below, yes, False Hope 13 came out several months ago. However ,”I Made It From Scratch” was part of a songwriters segment featured in July. So yes, it is not “old”, it’s just much more distinguished than it’s day old younger brother, Never Better.

Which is not that old and was released like 3 months ago.

I’m a huuuuuuge fan of dude actually, and Doomtree. I’m at a point where I listen to very little new hip-hop, but these cats come with a very refreshing angle. the Doomtree crew album and the Mictan/Lazerbeak album are both recommended.
and Never Better is dude’s best album, by far.

[...] It takes punk rock influences like Fugazi and makes rap flow over them. And it’s a DAMN good album. Here’s a link to the stupendous track, Savion Glover. [...]
