Two things I discovered in the New Year
By Lizelle Jackson | January 5, 2009
Bonne Année! ! I am having an awesome time with my travels, took a ton of pictures, but I must say that I am a little glad to be soon finished with the hectic traveling schedule and back into the swing of things. One day I will take a vacation that is actually a vacation! So for my last day in Paris, I’m sitting outside at a cafe under the glowing heaters and watching the snow fall. I think I could get used to this life!
So in all the travels these past two weeks I discovered two things of note on this trip. Actually let me rephrase that…I learned two things of note on the trip that pertain to the blog. Wouldn’t want you think that these were the only two things I found interesting while on vacation!
1. Unfortunately, even though the French are known for their pastries, a cupcake is not one of them. Visiting the first (and I believe only) cupcake bakery in Paris, Cupcakes & Co had me über excited with some of their unconventional flavors. Within the first bite however, I realized that they look much better than they taste, as the consistency of the cupcakes resembled the toughness of a scone. C’est la vie, just have to wait till I get back to NY. At least I ate plenty of other great desserts here!
2. KILLER radio station here in Paris! Listening to the radio in our apartment, my friends and I stumbled across a station called Radio Nova and were blown away. Artists like Peter Von Poehl, Gang Gang Dance, Metronomy, and not to mention the old school funk and soul joints that they throw in there. At times we thought the station had changed because the music varied so much from genre to genre. Why are there not more stations like this in the US! There is nothing better than listening to a station and discovering new music all day long.

If only life were that good. New music on the radio is a statement of astronomical oxymoronic properties. Yes. What I discovered in the the new year….Oxymoronic.
