Jessica 6 – See the Light

By Lizelle Jackson | May 25, 2011

First off I would like to apologize for the long absence….I was in the process of moving from Switzerland back to NY and time kind of got away from me.  Now I am back in the city that never sleeps and surrounded by new and exciting music so hopefully it will be much easier to get back on that horse.

Which I suppose is why I have chosen “White Horse” by Jessica 6 to start things off.  A couple months ago I ended up on a plane with these guys going from Zurich to Berlin.  Later that night, by complete chance, I happened to hit the same club they were performing at.  You only have to see these guys one time to get totally hooked, well at least that’s all it took for me.  Dizzying disco with groovy baselines and sultry vocals, it’s pretty much what I imagine a night at Studio 54 might have been like, well….minus the coke.

Check out their new album See the Light if you get the chance, def a good listen.  You might even find some funky hip hop/R&B tracks hidden in there.

Tennis – Marathon (Fan video)

By Lizelle Jackson | February 11, 2011

Although I was fairly disappointed with their full-length (a little too slow and repetitive) I am still totally in love with this song.  I stumbled across this fan video and thought it was pretty well done.  Retro, colorful and sunny….just like the song.

Seriously…I don’t know what I was expecting from a group called Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Pleasantly surprised? Indeed.

VIDEO: El Guincho – Bombay

By Lizelle Jackson | November 4, 2010

I don’t even know what to say about this video except WOW. The song is exceptional and the video is, to say the least, visually stunning. Maybe too many boobies for me and I feel a tad bit dirty when watching it, but besides that I love the chaos and the aesthetic of the whole thing. What do you think?

Andreya Triana’s debut album drops today in the US!

By Lizelle Jackson | September 7, 2010

Drum roll please……after years of waiting, Ms. Andreya Triana has finally released an album! Those of you that have been following this blog for some time know how much I dig her music, and it is awesome to see someone as talented as her finally getting the recognition she deserves! After being featured as the “Single of the Week” in the UK iTunes store, her debut release has finally made it stateside. It’s a hauntingly beautiful album, one that features stellar production from Bonobo, and of course those deliciously sultry vocals of Ms. Triana. Check it…now.
