Little Dragon ‘Machine Dreams’

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Unless you have been sleeping under a rock, I’m sure you have been hearing tracks from Little Dragon‘s new album, Machine Dreams, being played everywhere. It’s about damn time too, considering the lack of attention their self-titled debut album received. A little more upbeat and electronic than their first release, it still packs the same [...]

Dwilt Sharpp ft. Lorette Fleur – I Need You Close

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

I’m pretty familiar with Lorette Fleur, but this Dwilt Sharpp fella is totally new to me. A newbie to Paris’ Favorite Recordings (Onra, Mr. Day), you can be sure that Sharpp will be supplying plenty more of these funky and soulful tracks in the future.

Mocky – Birds of a Feather

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

So this track is a little more jazzy than what you usually that you find here, but I’m totally in love with it. One of my fabulous picks that I grabbed over at Amoeba, along with Passion Pit (fav album right now) and Matt and Kim. A native of Canada, Mocky boasts producer credits for the likes of Jaime Lidell as well as Feist, so I’m sure you have heard his influence before.

I haven’t been keeping up with Georgia Anne Muldrow as much as I should be, but I am über excited for her upcoming album Umsindo (Zulu for ‘sound’), due out July 14th.

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

I bit the bullet last night and forked out some cash to check out Brooklyn’s own Tortured Soul, at the behest of a friend. AWESOME cannot accurately describe their live performances. Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t doing choreographed dances around the stage or anythi

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Full Crate feat. Mar “Aftersexin”

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Another lovely piece from Full Crate and Mar, the boys responsible for “She Was Fly”. Grab it here at Moovmnt.

Friday, March 6th, 2009

There are alot of great releases coming in April, but one I’m really looking forward to is Muhsinah’s Oscillations: Triangle. She has been in heavy rotation on my iPod lately, especially with the Daru remixed “Once Again”.

ARTIST ALERT: Nikki Lynette

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Another Chi-town artist trying to make waves outside of the Great Lakes, Nikki Lynette is an eccentric singer with a funky and versatile sound. Peep the Motown influenced “Need A Man” below…
